Freediving and Spearfishing Fins
They are long, they are elegant, and the way they bend when a freediver is finning is almost hypnotic. But there is a technical reason why freedivers choose freediving fins instead of scuba fins. Freedivers move through the water by displacing it, and since freediving fins have a larger surface area, they displace more water, offering more power. The blade of freediving fins “snap" as opposed to Scuba fins with very little bend and movement.
Ensure that you choose a freediving fin that is suited to you:
Soft: For freedivers that are smaller and do not have a lot of leg muscles and power. Also good for beginners.
Medium: For freedivers who are of medium build with a normal amount of leg muscles and power.
Hard: For freedivers who have very strong legs and a bigger build.
Carbon Fiber fins are by far the choice for professional freedivers. They are the most expensive fin but they are the best material choice for deep dives, providing the most snap and they are the lightest fin.
