The Shearwater Perdix 2 TI Dive Computer

The Perdix AI  dive computer from Shearwater Research is the best computer on the market in our eyes for any diver. Yes it's at home on a 6m scallop dive, or a 60m wreck dive.

So what is new, just a name?  No, the latest version from Shearwater comes with a Titanium Bezel and Piezo buttons.

It is a robust dive computer designed for technical divers of all levels, and ready out of the box for air, nitrox, and tri-mix gasses.

It is also the perfect computer for the average recreational diver too as it is very easy to use and read.  Plus it's tough as nails.

Offering all of the same great features of the Perdix, the Perdix AI uses its large, easy-to-read screen to clearly display the tank pressure as well as your gas time remaining (GTR). The Perdix AI is capable of connecting to either one or two transmitters giving the diver the option to monitor both tanks or dive side mount.

Its simple 2-button interface and easy to navigate menu structure allows for intuitive and quick operation underwater. The Perdix AI features a large, high resolution LCD screen is both easy to read, and power efficient.

The Perdix AI operates on any AA sized battery (available everywhere), and is user-replaceable in the field with minimal effort. It takes less than 1 minute to change.

So is the transmitter, though but uses a CR2 battery.

How to change the battery on a Shearwater (or Aqualung or Oceanic) Transmitter

The included digital compass is both accurate and smooth, and Bluetooth integration offers download and upload capability from Mac, PC, and iOS devices.

The Perdix AI may be used for open-circuit and closed circuit-diving, as well as gauge mode if desired.

The Perdix AI supports hoseless gas pressure integration, sometimes called air integration (AI). The Perdix AI is capable of wirelessly connecting to either one or two optional transmitters giving the diver ability to monitor up to two tank pressures. It is also capable of calculating the Gas Time Remaining (GTR) on one assigned tank. Air integration is optional for all modes, from OC Rec to CC/BO. The tank pressure(s), in PSI or BAR, and GTR can be displayed to the customizable slots on the main display screen or accessed through the underlying information screens.

If using 2 transmitters at once, you should use a grey and a yellow transmitter as they send the radio signal at slightly different intervals to reduce interference.

After sales care is fantastic with Shearwater.

Shearwater has a 2 year warranty on all products. The warranty lives with the unit, not with the original purchaser. This means that whether you buy your unit from our dealer network or second-hand the warranty will still be effective. Once the warranty period has passed computers should be serviced annually at your nearest service center.

It is unnecessary to register your unit upon purchase. Every Shearwater unit is tracked with a unique serial number.

User Review:

"Shearwater Perdix every time. They're great computers that give you all the info you need for all types of diving. Will cope with all diving styles from recreational through to serious technical diving. It's got a couple of screen modes; the recreational mode has limited information to not overload you with info.

The technical mode is just great, giving you all the info you need including some great features such as 'delta 5', i.e. what's your Time-To-Surface in five minutes time (which means you can easily work to a runtime).

It's got a terrifically clear display. Really simple two-button control user interface that's the best I've ever used (Suunto's on the other hand are probably the worst). I love having a single AA battery with a *reliable* battery gauge. It uses standard diving algorithms (unlike Suunto's made up ones).

Most of all, it works reliably and I trust it with my life. I can't give it higher praise than that."

Perdix

I absolutely rate this dive computer. I went from a Suunto D4i which I was struggling to read underwater due to it being grey scale and went for the Perdix predominantly because of it's size and colour display. I wear glasses normally (but nothing underwater) and I struggle to read a lot of gauges. The Perdix has nice big numbers and is nice and bright. It's the brightest display that I have seen. I can easily read it underwater. Having a user changeable AA battery also has proven a lifesaver! It is just so simple and easy. If you are in doubt .... just get it .... you won't regret it!

The best!

I can’t say enough positive things about the Perdix! It’s so powerful, yet really simple and easy to use, and can be used for simple dives through to serious technical dives- you won’t outgrow it! Lots of great custom features, like colours and what data you want to see on each screen. The compass is excellent and lets you mark a bearing so you won’t get lost. Add to that frequent software updates from Shearwater, an AA battery you can change yourself, and an app to download all your dives to and you can’t beat it!

This computer is amazing for all diving but a must for tech diving. It’s easy to use both before, during and after your dives. It’s easy to install the updates from Shearwater so you know you’ve got the best technology available. I also love that you can put a photo on it so you know it’s your computer!
