Open Cell neoprene is designed for use for free diving. It can be used for scuba, but it is not ideal as it isn't designed to be under pressure for hours on end and so will get thinner after a season of scuba diving. Plus at depth it won't be as warm as a closed cell suit. But if you do both sports and can only own one suit, it will need to be Open Cell.
